Publications / Public Relations / Media Sub-Committee

Who: We need enthusiastic, creative, daring and dedicated people to help put together the critically-acclaimed med school magazine, Notre Damus. This publication keeps us all informed, amused, outraged, embarrassed and aroused with all the latest news and views relating to our school. Please note, I’m very keen to have input from all four years so phone/email communication for 3rd/4th years is an option to make it easier for you.

What: Depends on your skills. Writing, interviewing, etc are the big ones but it’d be awesome to find a graphics and design layout guru. The most important thing though is fresh ideas. Oh, and occasionally roughing up contributors who are looking like missing a deadline.

Apart from Notre Damus we’ll also liaise with various media outlets to ensure the best possible image of our school is presented to the community (this is our one serious duty) and be in charge of bill-posting (which at this uni carries similar risks as the running of the bulls).

Why: Give back to your school. Influence your peers, shape their brains, get into their… lives, and enjoy free beer from adoring fans. It’s a student publication so it needs students to contribute to its success. We’re hoping to make it bigger and better than ever this year and you can be a part of this. You’ll also have your name in the magazine as part of the editorial team and be able to tell your Granny you’re on a MSAND sub-committee.

When: NOW! And remember, please apply – my standards are quite low!

Education Sub-committees

Hi MSAND members,

Further to the shout out for MSAND sub committee members, I would like to outline the positions required for the education sub committee. Each of the members of the MSAND education sub committee would be requested to sit on one of the SoM academic committees with academic staff and admin coordinators.

The School of Med request student reps for the following committees

* Assessment committee - 2 student reps (one pre clinical, one clinical)
* Syllabus committee - 2 student reps (one pre clinical, one clinical)
* Research committee - one student from 4th year who is in the honors program
* Evaluation committee - 2 student reps (one pre clinical, one clinical)
* Selection / intake committee - one student rep from 1st year.

The student reps on the above committee would be required to meet monthly with the MSAND education rep and feedback to MSAND / student body regarding issues / developments in the various committee meetings.

If you are interested in getting involved with the ongoing development of our med school please put you hand up and get involved with one of the education sub committees. This will ensure that any changes made are have student input and are therefore student focussed.
