Dear Medical Students and Junior Doctors,
MEDICAL CAREERS EXPO
The Postgraduate Medical Council of Western Australia would like to invite you all to attend the 2011 Medical Careers Expo. The Medical Careers Expo is a fantastic forum to expand your networks, mingle with long lost friends after being separated by hospitals and obtain important information first hand about your future career.
Whether you have chosen your specialty already or if you are still uncertain, the Medical Careers Expo will suit everyone. You can never know too much about the specialty you wish to pursue and if you're deciding between a few, why not come along and speak to someone who has been in your position to seek their advice. First class experiences like these only come around once a year, so make sure you make the most of this opportunity.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
The Medical Careers Expo will bring you face to face with representatives from many of the Australian medical colleges and societies. You will be able to obtain personal feedback and information regarding vocational training programs and the requirements for entry as well as much more.
Each college will have their own booth at the expo and you are encouraged to visit as many booths as you like during the course of the night. Remember, the colleges are there for you, so take advantage of the moment and ask them all of those questions you never had the chance to ask. Most colleges will also be participating in a panel presentation that will be held in Winthrop Hall. Roving microphones will be available for you to ask questions directly to college representatives as well, so don't be shy!
The Expo will be a fun, friendly and social atmosphere with plenty of food as well as some amazing door prizes to be won.
It is never too early to think about your future career as a medical practitioner and attending this expo will provide you with vital information on what experience you need to be obtaining early on in your intern and PGY2 year, so don't miss out!
