What is AMSA?

The Australian Medical Students Association is the main representing body for medical students in Australia.
As a medical student and MSAND member, you automatically become a member of AMSA.

What AMSA does

AMSA has 6 sub-brands
  • Advocacy
  • Community
  • Events
  • Global
  • Memberships
  • Publications

The primary goal of AMSA is to provide a voice for medical students, ensuring their concerns are heard by all levels of government and other relevant stakeholders in the medical education arena.

AMSA does this by:
  • Forming close but independent relationships with other organisations that share similar concerns.
  • Engaging Federal and State health ministers and shadow ministers in discussion about the important issues faced by AMSA members.
  • Providing representation on committees who are directly responsible for medical education.
  • And perhaps most importantly, communicating with all members to ensure their opinions are heard.

Head to the AMSA website for more info!

Convention is the annual gathering of medical students from around the country. Running over 7 days and nights, convention provides both an academic and social program. The Academic program features five days of inspirational and thought-provoking addresses from world-renowned speakers, and workshops. The evenings are filled with ample opportunity to engage with other medical students from across Australia and New Zealand in the notorious social program.

2009 marks the 50th Anniversary of convention and promises to be an extravaganza that you will never forget! Running from the 5th – 12th July in Brisbane, stay tuned by checking out the Convention website!
